The following types of life cover are available:
Mortgage protection Also known as "Decreasing Term Assurance". This policy will pay out a lump sum if you die within the specified terms. If the decreasing life cover is set up to cover your repayment mortgage, the amount of payout in the event of a claim should approximately reflect amount outstanding on your mortgage as it runs through the term.
Level Term Assurance Level life cover means that a lump sum will be paid if you die during the policy term. The amount of life cover selected will normally remain level throughout your selected plan term, although if you wish you can increase the benefits in line with inflation.
Family Income Benefit This policy provides cover if you die during the term of the policy. Unlike Level or Decreasing Term Assurance which pays out a lump sum, this policy provides a regular tax free income for your dependents for the remainder of the policy term. The income benefit normally remains level over the term selected. You can however have the benefits increased in line with inflation.
Critical Illness Critical illness cover will pay a lump sum should you be diagnosed with a defined critical illness, ie: heart attack, cancer, stroke or one of many other illnesses. This cover can be used in conjunction with life insurance or as a stand alone product.
